Introduction

We offer a choice of 3 different styles of self-catering holiday chalets, which were constructed between 1965 and 1980. Our location and the nature of our sites, as well as the limitations on the support we can offer, may well be important to those with any kind of disability.

We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement, The layout and landscaping of the site, and the internal layout of the chalets, as well as the limitations on the support we can offer may cause concerns for those with a disability. Please ask before enquire before if you have any specific concerns.

Pre-Arrival

Enquiries can be made via email, fax or phone, but we do not have the facility to take bookings via the website, a booking form can be printed and posted to confirm a booking

The nearest bus stop is approx 500m metres from the entrance.

The nearest train station is in North Walsham and is 5 miles away; buses or taxis are available to Mundesley.

The Dell and The Royal Chalet park are approx 5 mins walk from the nearest shop or from the village centre or ½ mile by road, Siesta Mar is 2 mins walk from the nearest shop and 10mins walk from the village centre.

We can provide information in large print on request.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities – Reception Area

Car park is flat levelled concrete.

The entrance at the front has 6 steps 17 cm high, 38cm deep, 120 cm wide. It has a wall on the left and right (door hinged on the left). The door is 80cm wide.

Parking is 10 metres away from the entrance.

 

RECEPTION AREA / ARRIVAL

This is at our bungalow (6a Paston Road Mundesley Norwich NR11 8BN)

· The entrance at the front has 6 steps 17 cm high, 38cm deep, 120 cm wide. It has a wall on the left and right (door hinged on the left). The door is 80cm wide.

· All new customers are taken to their chalet and shown the important details of the chalet

· As the reception area is our home (6a Paston Road) it is usually manned 24hrs a day

Public Areas – General (Internal)

As all our sites are small there are no general public arears.

ALL CHALETS ARE SELF CONTAINED AND HAVE NO COMMUNAL AREAS,PLEASE SEE INDIVIDUAL CHALET INFORMATION SHEET FOR ACCESS TO CHALETS.

THE DELL CHALETS Access Statement

Car Parking and Access to Chalets

There is a tarmac car parking area limited to 1 car per chalet, there is no parking or access for cars beside the chalets.

Distance from parking to chalets – approx 50 yards across the lawns to the chalets.

Chalets 10 and 11 have a level access from the car park

Chalet 12 has level access across lawns to the chalet

Chalet 14 and 15 are at the top of a set of 8 steps (17cm x 46cm x 117cm) with a hand rail on the right.

  • The door to the chalets 81cm wide with a step over a threshold 20cm and the key hole of the lock is 110cm high and the handle is 120cm.

There is no ramp and no handrails at the entrance.

 

Grounds and gardens

Tarmac car parking area, the chalets are on a lawned area with grass banks, there are some concrete steps and footpaths but access to some areas is across unpaved lawns.

Chalet 12 has level access across lawns to the chalet and No 14 and 15 are at the top of a set of 8 steps (17cm x 46cm x 117cm) with a hand rail on the right. (standing at bottom of steps).

There is a millpond at the top of the site and a stream running along side the access road, both are fenced by 900mm high chain link fence or a wooden picket fence 1.2 m high.

 

Inside the chalets

 

Fire Alarm – there is an audible battery fire alarm in the living area of each chalet.

Television – remote control colour TV with subtitles available.

Lighting – Ceiling lights with Incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs in most rooms,

mini spotlights in kitchen and bedside lamps in bedrooms.

Internal layout

The front door opens on to Living area with 3 pc suite, dining table and chairs and open plan kitchen area, living area has direct access to bedrooms and bathroom / wc.

Doorways – The doorways to the all rooms are 66cm wide.

Colour Scheme – magnolia with white skirting and architrave and oak coloured flooring.

Doorways – The doorways to the 2 bedrooms are 66cm wide.

Flooring– The flooring is oak laminate floor in all rooms except the bathroom is marble effect

Living Room

 

  • Living area is 4.4 m x 2.5 m.

There is free space of 1.5m by 1.5 m in the centre of the room and 1.1 m x 4 m inside the front door – clear of doors and furniture.

 

Seating and tables – Dining Table 118 cm long x 74 cm wide x 74cm high with legs on each corner, 64cm floor to lowest point of table (underspace)

  • A Free space between table and walls of 50 cm all around can be achieved.
  • Chairs: corner sofa with arms and seat 52 cm from ground level.
  • Most furniture is moveable (not the sofa) and all is non feather.

Double Bedroom

 

Room size –2.44 m x 2.8m

  • Double bed provided – 135cm wide with 90cm space down one side only and 45 cm around the end.

Bed height is 50cm

  • Non Feather duvets and pillows provided.
  • Largest transfer space available to one side of bed only is 90cm
  • Bed is not movable due to space restrictions
  • Largest free space clear of doors and furniture is 90cm by 187cm

Single Bedroom

Room size – 2.5m x 2.6m

  • 2 no 3ft ” single, beds provided 50cm transfer space between beds on one side only. Bed height 50cm floor to top of mattress.)
  • Largest transfer space available to only one side of bed is 50cm
  • Bed is not movable due to space restrictions
  • Largest free space clear of doors and furniture is 58 cm by 180 cm

Bathroom & WC

  • The shower is a shower tray with glass door Shower size is 73cm x 110cm, there is a 26cm step into the shower over a raised lip. There are no hand rails are in the shower, although they can be provided on request.
  • Free space in bathroom is minimal
  • Toilet seat height 42cm
  • Space to side of toilet is 15cm
  • Wash Basin is 80cm from floor, Space under washbasin is limited due the pedestal.
  • Flooring is laminate

Kitchen

•Kitchen open plan within lounge.

  • Worktop height 92cm.
  • Built in oven below worktop centre – centre of oven is approximately 60cm from floor. Oven   door is drop down. A microwave oven is situated on the worktop.
  • Sink is 92cm high with cupboards underneath and hexagonal standard headed taps.

  • Evenly lit kitchen spot lights
  • Standard undercounter fridge 50cm x 85cm high fridge with internal ice box.

There is a hard surfaced car parking area with ample room, although you cannot park in next to the chalet, some chalets are within 10 metres of the car park

Distance from parking to chalets – varies between 10 m and 75 m.

The site is completely level with concrete paths to each chalet

The door to the chalets 75cm wide with a threshold 30cm high and the key hole of the lock is 120 cm high and the door handle is 131cm.

Chalet 42 – 160cm x 84 x 74 high table is drop leaf gate leg so clear space underneath is limited

Chairs: there is a cottage style 3 piece suite with arms and seat 39cm from ground level.

ROYAL CHALET no 8 Access Statement

Car Parking and Access to Chalet

There is no direct access to the chalets by car , there is a choice of 2 car parks one tarmac and one hard surfaced with concrete paths to the chalets, one has a short flight of 6 steps down to the chalet site.

Distance from parking to chalets – either 20 metres via steps or 150 metres on concrete footpath, depending on choice of car park.

The site is mainly level with concrete paths some chalets have access across lawns, there are some steps and slopes (particularly the access to the adjoining Dell site).

The door to the chalets 69 cm wide, there is a step of 90cm x 30cm x 16cm from the path and then a threshold 25cm high (from outside).

The door handle is 124cm high and the key hole of the lock is 115 cm high.

Grounds and gardens

Tarmac parking area, chalets are on a lawned area with grass banks, there are some concrete steps and footpaths some chalets have access across lawns.

Chalet 5 and 6 are furthest from the parking area and have access via a short sloping path. Chalets 8 and 9 can be access via a flight of top of a set of 7 steps (120cm x 45cm x 13cm) with a hand rail on the left. (facing bottom of steps).

The adjoining Dell chalet park is accessed via a set of 8 steps (each step is 17cm x 46cm x 117cm) with a hand rail on the right. (facing bottom of steps).

The adjoining Dell chalet site has a mill pond at the top of the site and a stream running through the site, both are fenced by a 3ft high chain link fence.

Doorways – The doorways to the 2 bedrooms are 74 cm wide , the bathroom and is 64cm wide and the toilet is 56cm wide.

Flooring- low pile carpet throughout with vinyl flooring in bathroom / wc and kitchen area.

Seating and tables, Dining Table 150 cm long x 84 cm wide x 74 cm high, space under the table is limited due to the gate leg drop leg design

Car Parking and Access to Bungalows

There is covered car parking adjacent to the bungalows and a level paved path and patio area providing access to the front door.

Distance from parking to front door of bungalows – 10 metres to No1 or 22 meters to No2 (approx).

There are timber deck access ramps to the front door

The door to the bungalows 80cm wide, with a level threshold inside and out.

The door handle is 104cm high and the keyhole of the lock is 96 cm high

The garden and patio area are level.

Grounds and Gardens

Tarmac parking area, both bungalows have a private paved courtyard patio area, with a shared lawn at the front (no2 has a small lawn at the side) all grounds are flat and level.

Inside the Bungalows

Fire Alarm – there is an audible mains / battery fire alarm in the hall area of each bungalow.

Television- remote control 32 inch colour TV; Teletext is available via Freeview satellite system.

Lighting Bedrooms – pendant ceiling lights and also individual reading lamps with switches each side of the bed

Bathroom enclosed ceiling light and additional light over mirror.

Lounge triple spotlight style ceiling light plus separate wall lights.

The front door opens onto Hall and Living area with 3 pc suite, dining table and chairs and open plan kitchen area.

Living area is 450 cm x 500 cm. There is free space of 290cm by 250cm clear of doors and furniture.

Colour Scheme- magnolia walls with brown wood stain skirting and architrave and oak finish laminate flooring.

Doorways – All internal doorways are 79 cm wide

Flooring – Laminate flooring throughout.

Seating and tables, Dining Table 140 cm long (extendable to 180 cm x 90 cm wide x 80 cm high, space under the table 67cm high.

A Free space between table and walls of 70cm all around can be achieved, with 100cm achievable on 2 sides

Chairs: there are 2 sofas with a seating surface 50cm high.

Furniture is moveable.

Double Bedroom

Double bed provided 135cm wide with 60 cm space down one side and 150cm on the other. Bed height is 65cm

There is a space of 20cm each side of the toilet, the seat height is 42 cm .

The shower cubicle is 80cm x 80cm internal

The doorway is 60 cm wide with a threshold step 24cm high.

The controls for the shower are at 105 cm high.

Wash basin

There is a vanity basin situated in an alcove 77cm wide and the top of the basin is 80cm high.

Single Bedroom

Door width 79cm

Room size 265cm x 365cm

2 no 3ft single beds provided, 55 cm transfer space between beds and on both sides, 65 cm is achievable. Bed height is 60cm floor to top of mattress.

Thee is a gas hob at height 90 cm with an electric oven below with drop down door. A microwave oven is situated on the worktop.
